Jesus and his disciples were Jews. Because
the Jews had often been unkind to the Samaritans, the Samaritans did not want anything to do with the Jews.
James and John were furious that they had been refused lodging for the night. They said, "Lord, why don't you call fire down from
heaven on this village?"
Jesus answered, "How wrong you are! The Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them."
Jesus went on to another village, and his disciples followed.
